About the Yakama Nation UCHRP

The Yakama Nation Upper Columbia Habitat Restoration Project (URCHRP) is a project under the Yakama Nation Fisheries Resource Management Program. The project is entirely funded through the Columbia Basin Fish Accords. The intent of the UCHRP is to implement science based habitat restoration benefiting spring Chinook and steelhead on priority streams and river reaches within the Methow, Entiat, and Wenatchee Subbasins, following recommendations contained in the Upper Columbia Spring Chinook and Steelhead Recovery Plan (UCSRB, 2007).

The Yakama Nation is a partner in the Upper Columbia Salmon Recovery Board, which is a regional organization made up of representatives from Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties, the Colville Confederated Tribes and the Yakama Nation.  The mission of the Recovery Board is restore viable and sustainable populations of salmon, steelhead and other at-risk species through collaborative, economically sensitive efforts, combined resources, and wise resource management of the Upper Columbia region.  The following video describes some of the impetus and importance of current habitat restoration work being undertaken by programs such as the Yakama Nation UCRHP.
